Lake Latonka is a private, lake-oriented community located along a former stream valley in a mostly rural part of Mercer County. The community covers roughly 1,270 acres in portions of both Coolspring and Jackson Townships. The community lies just North of U.S. Route 62, less than one mile West of Interstate 79 and approximately one hour from the Pittsburgh area.
Lake Latonka features an approx. 300 acre lake which offers the opportunity to participate in several water sports including boating and fishing. The lake contains several varieties of fish and is stocked with selected fish annually. There are 16.5 miles of roads which are used for walking, jogging, and biking. The common area adjacent to the public beach offers a volleyball court, a paved basketball court, a bocce area, soccer nets, and a playground for younger children. A community room is available for private parties and lake functions.
The summer is the busiest time at the lake with the Fourth of July celebration which includes activities for the kids, a 2-mile "Friendly Frolic" run/walk and a fantastic fireworks display at dusk. The fun doesn't end in the summer. In September be sure to attend the Fall Festival with crafts, music and great food. Winter brings all of the ice-fisherman out on the lake as well as the cross country skiers.
